Augmented Reality
in the operating room

With the ARVIS system, the surgeon wears a headset during surgery that projects 3D preoperative planning data overlaid onto the patient's real anatomy.

This enables millimetre-precise prosthesis positioning, reducing operating times and improving patient outcomes. The technology is applied to both hip and knee replacement.

About Me

Dr. Alessandro
Tripodo

Based in Montignoso (MS), I practise orthopaedic surgery in Forte dei Marmi (LU), where I serve as Head of the Orthopaedic Surgery Unit, as well as in Vinci (FI), Messina and Cotignola (RA).

My main focus is reconstructive arthroscopic and prosthetic surgery, using multiple robotic platforms and cutting-edge technology such as augmented reality for both hip and knee replacement. Over 500 joint replacements and over 500 minor arthroscopic procedures per year.

protesi PHYSICA
impiantate

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Augmented Reality in surgery?
The ARVIS system allows the surgeon to visualise preoperative 3D planning data in real time, overlaid on the patient's actual anatomy through a headset. This ensures millimetre-precise prosthesis positioning.
Which procedures use Augmented Reality?
It is currently applied to total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA), enabling more accurate implant positioning than traditional techniques.
What are the benefits of robotic surgery?
Robotic surgery with the Corin Omnibotics system offers superior bone-cut precision, personalised planning, faster recovery times and greater implant longevity.
Where does Dr. Tripodo practise?
Dr. Tripodo operates at 4 locations: San Camillo Hospital in Forte dei Marmi (LU), Casa di Cura Leonardo in Vinci (FI), Humanitas COT in Messina and Maria Cecilia Hospital (GVM) in Cotignola (RA).
How can I book a consultation?
You can call +39 340 590 1886, send a WhatsApp message to the same number, or fill in the contact form on the website. We will get back to you to arrange an appointment at the most convenient location.
How long is recovery after a joint replacement?
Thanks to minimally invasive techniques, robotic surgery and augmented reality, recovery times are significantly reduced. Patients typically begin walking on the same day as surgery and full recovery takes 4–8 weeks.
